Recommended Textbooks and Readings

To gain unfair advantages, you should become thorough with one good textbook on each subject.  There are several good textbooks, but select the one you enjoy.

Human Resources Management

  • Human Resource Management, Gary Dessler, Pearson Education Inc.
Brief presentation of a vast subject. Well researched.

  • Personnel Management, Edwin B. Flippo, McGraw-Hill
Best textbook in my opinion still. Written with lot of love for HR. Slowly becoming outdated.

Organizational Behavior

  • Organizational Behavior, Stephen P. Robbins, Prentice Hall
    Best textbook in my opinion.

  • Organizational Behavior, Fred Luthans, McGraw-Hill
Some friends say this is their favorite on OB

  • Human Behavior at Work, Davis-Newstorm, McGraw-Hill
Leading textbook once upon a time, now somewhat outdated

  • Management of Organizational Behavior, Paul Hersey, Kenneth H. Blanchard, Dewey E. Johnson, Prentice-Hall

Self Management

  • How to Win Friends and Influence People, Dale Carnegie, Pocket Books, USA
Classic on interpersonal relationships. You will not want to put it down after starting.
The original edition of 1936 is better than the revised edition of 1982

  • The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, Stephen R Covey, Simon & Schuster, USA
Best contemporary guide to self improvement.

  • What they Don't Teach You at the Harvard Business School, Mark H. McCormack, Bantam Books, USA
